My daughter is more agitated after Reiki, is it too much Reiki?
Question: I have recently completed my Reiki Level 1 and have been doing Reiki healing for a week on my daughter. I do the 12 position healing for 2.5 mins on each position. It has done wonders for her! For the first 4 days she fell into a deep sleep before I finished the 12 positions. The last few days however it takes her a while to settle and fall asleep even after I have finished the 12 positions. Have I done too much Reiki healing at one go, that now her body doesn’t ne

Why did I start to cry when I gave someone Reiki?
When we give Reiki to others, we are taught that Reiki is a one-way process – from us to the other. In this way we do not need to protect ourselves, and we do not need to worry about their energy affecting us. But as many people notice, Reiki treatments DO affect us, and sometimes in startling, or uncomfortable ways. Firstly it is important to understand the Reiki is not doing this; it is simply the interaction between two peoples’ energy fields. At Reiki level 1 this is m

Why do some people get better results with Reiki than others?
Once you begin to ‘fill yourself up’ with Reiki energy you will begin to heal those parts of yourself that require healing – but this is naturally different for each person as we all have unique imbalances and life experiences. Your self-healing abilities are potentially the same as anyone else’s – the only difference in results is the discipline of your self-treatment, and also your openness/ripeness for change. For example, if you have very poor eating habits and you apply

I keep falling asleep when I do my Reiki, is that OK?
The great thing with Reiki is that it works even when we are asleep, or watching TV, or commuting to work on the bus. Reiki is an automatic flow through your hands and the body then draws on this energy in an intuitive way to where it is needed. This means you do not need to be consciously thinking about it, or even conscious at all! We do recommend you try to stay awake and do a conscious practice, but this is not because of the Reiki or anything to do with its effectivene

Why are some Reiki self-treats so uncomfortable?
Q: Sometimes when I do Reiki I can hardly keep my hands on my body it feels so uncomfortable, it’s like I want to throw my hands off and stop immediately – I can barely make it through 20 minutes. Other times I can lie through the entire hour and feel so deep, calm and relaxed. What am I doing wrong? When you feel like this, you are doing nothing wrong! It very much depends on what the body is processing and what you are going through at any particular time. Sometimes when

Moving into Healing as a Career
Many people, once they begin to do Reiki healing for others, begin to feel drawn to doing Healing as a ‘job’. It feels like it will be a wonderful change to be a holistic practitioner instead of running the corporate hamster wheel! And I would agree! However, moving into healing is nothing like changing jobs – there is no salary, there is no corporate structure, in effect it is like becoming an entrepreneur and follows very similar rules to how you would go about setting up
